EMERGE Leadership training has been called “life-altering” and has helped sustainable building practitioners from around the country launch policy initiatives and commercial enterprises, navigate professional career transitions, and initiate community projects and more.  This workshop will 1) introduce the EMERGE Leadership model;  2) provide ample opportunity to discuss emergent leadership concepts, and 3) experience through interactive exercises how this model can help us achieve success moving our organizations and communities towards a truly sustainable built environment.  An in-depth scenario activity will prepare participants to apply emergent collaboration.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the three elements comprising the system of Emergent Leadership.
  • For each element, understand one key behavior that you can immediately apply in your role as sustainable building advocate.
  • Gain insight as to how you can use the concepts of emergent leadership to transform you and your organization.
  • Understand and be able to apply the emergent collaboration approach in organizational and community projects

Kathleen O’Brien, LEED AP and Cascadia Fellow was instrumental in developing wide ranging and multi-faceted sustainable development initiatives around the country over the course of her 30+year career.Today, she directs the non-profit EMERGE Leadership Project and recently released the highly acclaimed book: “EMERGE: A Strategic Leadership Model for the Sustainable Building Community.”

Daniel Huard, LFA, PMP, CET, LEED AP O+M; BD+C provides leadership to the green building community at the local, national, and international level, with emphasis on restorative development fostering social justice and the common good.  He brings deep practical experience to all of his projects at Greenview Global.

Dave Ray, LEED AP O+M is a long time entrepreneur taken by the philosophy of servant leadership from a young age. While developing successful building-related business ventures, his enthusiastic advocacy contributes to the success of initiatives such as the recent passage of Nevada’s Tax Abatement for LEED EB Projects.
