IMG_0475“Please, can we have another summit?”

Requests for a summit have been coming in, but the lovely retreat site we’ve been using has not been available…til NOW!  So registration is now open for the third annual EMERGE Alumni Summit.   As before, the day will be an opportunity for free flowing interchange, bonding, and co-mentoring. The structure for the day will provide maximum opportunity for participation and collaboration.  The theme this year will be “Let’s Talk.”

The Summit is  an opportunity to strengthen ties with each other in order to lead from a healthy, supported place.  As emergent leaders we need this to do our work more effectively. Not simply to prevent or mitigate burn out — which is vital to sustain our movement, but because if we present a positive, robust, even happy! prospect to those we hope to influence, we are much more likely to enroll them. So we’ll be talking with each other. And we’ll also be looking at how we talk with those we hope to influence. What does it take to really, really listen, even to others who don’t see things the way we do.

COME BE REFRESHED AND SUPPORTED IN YOUR WORK! Says Joanna Macy and Chris Johnstone in Active Hope: “How can we remain fired up for any length of time without being driven to exhaustion?…There is a strategic value to making what we do rewarding, and it goes further than preventing burnout…The movement needs to grow, and the attractiveness of participation grows when it is recognized as a path to deepened aliveness and a more satisfying way of life.”

Our summit is an opportunity to explore themes within the context of our Community  — a key element of The EMERGE Leadership Model.

More from Macy & JFullSizeRenderohnstone: “The very process of seeking support is a positive step for change.” Come be refreshed, and further strengthened in your capacity to lead positive change.

AGENDA: Laughter, lots of time for restorative connection & co-mentoring, creative collaboration, “flash clinics” for your “favorite” leadership issues, meeting Alumna from other workshops, free-wheeling discussions, excerpts from Kathleen’s book on emergent leadership, and fun. EMERGE Bingo? Yes!

WHO CAN ATTEND:  This event is for the EMERGE Community.  The retreat space holds 30 people comfortably, so do not wait to reserve you place. Note that priority will be provided to EMERGE Alumni, Board Members, and Faculty. However, last year several members of the EMERGE Community brought “buddies” with them, so this year we will initially be reserving a few spots for this purpose to see if there is continued interest.  Please contact Kathleen O’Brien if this is of interest to you.
